Configurable slots ?

Hello,
a quick question...
Both the F16SGRHv2 and F18CGRHv2 have 8 configurable slots that one user can configure different situations (as suggested), AA combat, Air refuel, etc...
Once setup, are the functions of these 8 slots settings always the same, independently of the DCS module or SIM launched ?
OR I can set, for each DCS module, 8 different functions ?
