Saving profiles??

Hi,
I've been trying to save profiles to the device and I have attempted a few things (save as with new xml files) and regardless of what I try it seems to just overwrite my changes to any xml I create.
I do have the F-18 XML that came with the most recent firmware that seems to retain it's settings but the others do not.
Any ideas?
version 1.12 of the software seems to allow me to save some settings to slots 1-4, and those seem to persist. v 1.13 doesn't seem to be working quite right.
