Warthog stick has "clicky", slack feel transitioning through vertical

Around the middle point there is a tiny bit of slack, and a clicky feel when moving stick forward to stick back.
I am using the angle adapter.
It isn't there pushing forward, but I feel it when pulling back. Tried reseating the stick a few times.

Dear Pete.
There are a trick
PLease put your finger between the R3L and the Warthog nut, move the grip, later place you finger between the nut and the warthog grip, and move the grip, if you feel the movement between grip and nut your warthog have a problem. if you feel the movement between the nut and the R3, you need tight the nut.

I was able to get it a lot better, not by tightening the nut around the base, but the two tiny hex screws on the left side of the stick. One above the hand rest, and one under it.
What do they tighten?
